When: May 19-30, 2025
Where: Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA

Topics: mathematical modeling for deterministic and stochastic systems, data science and computational modeling, applications including cell cycle, circadian regulation, bioinformatics, image processing, and mathematical epidemiology

Students will

  • Interact with Virginia Tech faculty, establishing connections for future research
  • Discover research areas in biological systems that may align with their interests
  • Gain hands-on experience with computational/experimental techniques
  • Develop their ability to understand and participate in scientific research

Daily schedule:

  • Monday to Friday (excluding Memorial Day)
  • Morning and afternoon sessions (~3 hours each)
  • Combination of lectures and hands-on activities
  • All sessions held on the Virginia Tech campus
  • Lunch and breakfast provided each day
  • Shared-room accommodations for Monday through Friday each week for community college students living outside Blacksburg

Cost:  None! However, no academic credit is possible.

Sponsored by the VT College of Science through funds to the VT Center for the Mathematics of Biosystems and the Mechanistic Biological Modeling Group, and by the National Science Foundation through award 2144680 to L. Childs
